124th Power of Paint Party… Faux Mirrors
Welcome Paint Lovers to the weekly Power of Paint Party @ Domestically Speaking… the party all about paint and the place to show-off those amazing paint projects you’ve completed!
This week I’ve got a flash-back to one of the coolest spray paints I’ve used.
I had these 2 pieces of glass that originally were overlays for our tables in the family room.
This is what I used as my inspiration:
Pottery Barn ~ LOVE them… I do a happy dance when the new catalog arrives!
This was the first time I’ve used Krylon’s Looking Glass Mirror-Like Paint. You spray the paint on the reverse side of the glass to create a reflective surface.
With a back and forth sweeping motion I did 5 light coats letting the paint dry for 1 minute in between coats. The photo above is after 2 coats.
Next was getting rid of the brassy gold trim. I used DecoArt’s Dazzling Metallics in Shimmering Silver and DecoArt’s Americana in Black. I layered the paint to create this look.
I smile when I see the recycled glass tabletops now!
It does not create a true mirror finish, more of an antique, aged mirror finish… but definitely reflective!
These mirrors have floated all over the house. Currently they are leaning on our built-in desk transformation.
This truly is one of the coolest spray paint transformations.
Don’t forget you can submit your paint projects to my other blog, Power of Paint, to be featured there.
So what have you been painting?
Power of Paint Party Rules:
#1… This is a PAINT party… so pretty please, link-up only paint related projects.
#2… I’d love if you put my nifty POPP button (you can find it up in my menu bar’s BUTTONS) in your blog post or a link back to this party somewhere on your blog… that way others from your blog can check out all the paint projects too. (not a requirement but always appreciated)
#3… Share the Love… visit the other paint pals.
Maryann literally speaking your blog is great! I love the mirrors. They are gorgeous!
Love the mirrors!! Thanks for hosting! ~Lori
Your mirrors look great 🙂 I recently used looking glass paint to create DIY mercury glass. It’s the coolest paint – it’s actually FUN to watch this paint dry!
I can’t wait to try mercury glass with it & yes… it’s fun to watch. It transforms before your eyes.
The mirrors are AMAZING!!! I’m gonna have to try that 🙂 And thanks so much for hosting again. Hope you have a great week 🙂
