Contact Paper Address

Thanks for Sharing!

This week my kiddos are on Easter vacation, so during this week I’ll be posting some new and some flashbacks (are you a Lostie) to a few of my favorite posts at the beginning of my blogging adventure.

Since posting my burlap and shell wreath, I’ve had a some questions about my address on our front door.

Last fall I showed how I made this with CONTACT PAPER… yes, cheap… you can find almost anywhere…. white contact paper.  I was wanting a vinyl address sign, but didn’t have the $$ for it.  So I had to improvise.

First I played around on the computer till a found a font & size I liked and printed out the "NO." and "570".

I taped down the printed page on a cutting board (scrapbooking).

Then I used an x-acto knife and very slowly cut out the numbers.  I used painter’s blue tape to hold everything down while cutting.

Then I took the numbers that were cut out and taped the numbers on top of the contact paper.

I’d say it took me "maybe" an hour to do & this is while I was getting kiddos their afternoon snacks & homework started.  It was easy & cheap ~ just the way I like my projects.

If you look at the cut-outs closely they definitely aren’t as clean as a vinyl cut-out would be, but these fit my budget.

I hope you enjoyed this flashback.  Power of Paint Party (POPP) will be starting tomorrow night (TUES) at 7pm.  Hope to see you then…

  5. You inspire in so many ways, Maryann. You are not only a marvelous creative talent, but you are a lovely person and a great blogger. You always seems to respond to my comments and you're visiting my party and you made such a wonderful project with the door numbers….and I've already told you that you look totally cool in those glasses, right? Thank you for linking the wonderful numbers to the boardwalk Bragfest. It is a really great "bragable"!

  6. Jess… That sounds like an easier way – you'd cut out a step that way. I'll have to figure out how to do that with my printer… THANKS!

  7. I have to ask a question. Could you have used the reverse as a stencil that would not move around? I would like to find a sub for vinyl since I don't have a cutter.

  8. Very creative — and I'm with you — I love anything that fits my budget. I think the numbers look really wonderful!

  9. I am so going to this! It looks awesome. I wish we weren't suffering from scarlet fever around here or I would head to the store right now. I love it.
