DIY Painted Toilet Paper Basket

Thanks for Sharing!

It’s Thrift Store time again and this month I’ve got a Painted Toilet Paper Basket to share with you!  I found an odd shaped basket at our local thrift store for only $1.  I wasn’t sure what it was for or what to do with it, but it intrigued me enough to spend that $1 on it.

Later at home I discovered that our jumbo Costco rolls of toiled paper fit perfectly on either side.  Our downstairs bathroom would have a new addition.

This was such an easy makeover, my favorite kind!  A little bit of chalky paint, a cute little starfish and some twine folks… that’s it!

Let me show you what I started with.

Interesting shape, right!  Anyone know if there’s some “purpose” for this shape of basket?  Do share!!!

I love this Yesteryear paint.  It’s a beautiful, light gray color.   I used a 1″ foam brush and lightly brushed the surface of the basket.  If you’re looking for a full coverage of a basket than you’ll definitely want to use spray paint… all those nooks and crannies aren’t happening with a brush (unless you’ve got too much time on your hand).

This paint color works great with our blue bathroom paint with gray undertone.

I used some twine and just wrapped it around the starfish and then tied it to the basket handle… easy peasy!

I love using a brush to paint on a basket… I just love seeing the brown tones popping through.

Now the rest of the team has some amazing thrift store makeovers to share with you.

Love how the paint leaves basket looking sort of rustic, great for toilet paper but would be perfect for 2 plants if plastic liner still available. What a great find for $1, can’t go wrong, the kind of goodie I love to find. Never know what you might want to use basket for. You’ll be enjoying use of that basket for long time to come, yeahoo.
    Happy weekend

Great idea! I think that kind of basket is for two potted plants. It may have had a plastic liner at one time.

Definitely could be Denise! That would be a really cute too.
