Its thrift store makeover time and this month I’m sharing a Chrome Desk Lamp. I picked up a dated desk lamp for only a dollar at my local thrift store a few months ago. My youngest has been updating her room over her summer vacation and was wanting a shiny, metallic desk lamp. With a little cleaning and some spray paint, I love her freshened up task light!

Here’s the desk lamp I started with.

I loved the shape, but it needed an update.

Chrome Desk Lamp Makeover

I started by giving the desk lamp a good cleaning. A damp paper towel worked great to clean most of the lamp, but where the price tag sticker was needed a little extra work. I used a little white vinegar on a paper towel to rub off the price tag stickiness.

Here’s my tip when painting a desk lamp…

Cupcake Liner!!! Yep… they fit perfectly inside the light socket area, making spray painting so much easier.

My daughter wanted a bright, shiny silver.

So that’s what she got!  I gave it 2 light coats and the chrome desk lamp was beautiful and ready for nightly homework sessions.

Isn’t she pretty! Her room has lots of modern touches, and this task lamp fits it just perfectly!
