Cookie Swap: Retro Style Printables
Hi there! Karen June & Zandra from Little Yellow Couch here and we’re delighted to be writing another guest post for Domestically Speaking! It’s that time of year when we start talking about sharing sweet treats with friends, family and neighbors. Hosting a cookie swap is one of those retro traditions that really deserves a little attention. Let’s face it…it’s become a little, well, boring. Predictable, maybe. And we don’t think it’s because we’re tired of delicious cookies! No, we think it’s boring because we haven’t put much effort into making the get-together feel special. First of all, everyone re-uses those round cookie tins with pseudo country Christmas themes that don’t actually represent anyone’s current taste. And then there are the cute-sy Santa Claus treat sacks from the craft store that make you feel like you’re in kindergarten instead of being a fully grown adult. To give the party a little flair (and to honor it’s retro roots), we’ve created an invite, recipe cards and cookie labels with a Mid-Century Modern vibe. Set up a bar cart, put on some jazz or holiday Motown and wear a pretty 50’s inspired cocktail dress. Your guests are sure to get in the groove and you’ll have hosted the best cookie swap in decades!
