Materials Needed for the DIY Seashell Seahorse

- a burlap canvas or here… I got one with some white background already painted on it (if you like the white paint look you could add it to a plain canvas)
- a bag of assorted seashells
- a strong glue
- a outline of the shape you want to make printed on paper
Step By Step Instructions
I placed the paper with the drawing of the seahorse on top of the canvas and used painter’s tape to hold it in place. Then I used a pencil and pressed firmly, tracing over the line a few times till I could the outline.
Then have some fun filling in the seahorse with shells attaching them with your glue. I started at the top of the seahorse and worked my way around. You could use a hot glue gun if you want, but I loved the glue I used for this summer project.
I started by tracing the outside, working in sections to let it set up and dry.
Then I filled in the interior.
I love how my Seashell Seahorse turned out.
I love nautical elements and have beachy elements in my everyday decor… so this baby will stay out throughout the year. I love the rustic burlap fabric edge to this canvas, but you could definitely frame this piece of art if you wanted.
Your options are endless too… I think I’m going to make a collection… since I’ve got a ton of shells still. I’m going to do a shell, crab, palm tree, etc… with various sized canvases.
