Early Autumn Porch
Happy to be partnering with Kwikset as the sponsor for this post.
It may be blazing hot, but once the kiddos head back to school I get the itching to get the fall decor out. Now I’m not into freaking out the neighbors as it’s still August, but once we’ve past Labor Day – watch out! So I put together a CUTE early Autumn Porch plus I’ve got some other fun updates for our front door.
So if you’ve been around my blog you know that we recently updated our front door with gel stain… yep gel stain!
Here’s the oh-so-sad before. Our front door faces the east and the black painted door had become faded and just SAD. So we gave it a Gel Stain Makeover which you can read about here.
But our front door hardware was looking just sad too. So we just updated our hardware to the Kwikset’s SmartCode TouchScreen Electronic Deadbolt. Can I just tell you how awesome it is!!! No fumbling to find the front door keys… a quick and easy push of a button to lock the door as we’re running off to school in the morning… love it!
I love it because if my kiddos have to walk home from school I’m not worrying if they brought their key with them. Here’s some other things I love about it:
- I love that an alarm sounds after 3 failed attempts with the code
- I love that it has a smart feature where it gives you 2 random numbers to type in before you put in your code (that way there’s fingerprints all over the keypad and not just on your code numbers)
- I love how easy it was to install
Here’s a fun video showing you how we updated our front door hardware.
Removing your existing hardware should only take a few minutes and you just need a screwdriver. Then it’s time to install the new.
I love the finish we picked out!
I think we spent about 30 minutes total and that was while I was taking breaks to photograph and video. So updating your front door hardware is a quick and easy DIY update for your home!
The lower portion of the hardware is Austin Single Cylinder Handset with Austin Lever.
My youngest will run from the van after school so she can be the one to put in the code.
Needless to say we’re all loving our Autumn Front Door Update.
Your front door looks great! I love the color and the hardware looks really nice against it. Thanks for sharing!
That lock is awesome! Perfect for little ones who aren’t quite old enough for a key! Thanks for sharing your gorgeous door update with us at Merry Monday this week!
