73rd Power of Paint Party ~ Prepping Hardware

|

Thanks for Sharing!

Welcome Paint Lovers!

This week I thought I’d share with you guys the cheap, easy way I clean hardware before I paint it.

#1 ~ Line the base of you sink with aluminum foil.

#2 ~ Place your hardware on top of the foil.

#3 ~ Generously sprinkle the hardware with baking soda.

#4 ~ Pour vinegar on top of the hardware till it has covered the hardware completely.

It will bubble and foam.

Let it soak until the bubbling slows.

Use an old toothbrush and scrub the hardware.

Once your hardware is dry, you are all ready to paint!

So what have you been painting?

Great tip! I use baking soda and vinegar a lot in cleaning, but have never used it for hardware prep. Thanks for sharing and for hosting this party each week. I hope it's ok that I'm linking up my Picture Letter Art again. It disappeared as part of Blogger's meltdown last week after being live for a couple of hours, but reappeared this morning in draft, so it's kindof new.
