A Beachy Shadowbox… a Thrift Store Makeover

Happy Wednesday Friends!  I’m so excited to introduce you to a new monthly series I’m a part of.  I’m teaming up with 5 other great bloggers and monthly we will be sharing Thrift Store Decor Makeovers!  Inspiring you to rummage your thrift stores and transform the tossed aside into treasures.  I’m a beach lovin’ girl so I’ve got a fun beachy shadowbox to share with you guys today.

Here’s what she looked like… not too bad for less than a buck!

First she needed a good cleaning.

Then I decided to brighten her up with some coral paint.

I painted the backing solid coral and then dry brushed some coral on the top sides.

I let it dry about an hour before dry brushing some white over the coral on the top side areas.

Once dry I added a starfish and seashells.

Then I wrote with a white chalkboard marker “Dream.”

A fun thrift store decor makeover!  This beauty is going on a gallery wall in the works in one of daughter’s rooms.

  6. I love this Maryann. Coral is my new fav color and anything beachy catches my eye. Wish I was on the beach now instead of in the deep freeze!! Did you use chalk paint? Thanks for the idea and for joining the team!

  7. I love this. I am currently on vacation on the beach in Florida. We have always collected so many shells.Looking for a way to display just a few as a reminder souvenir. This will be great!Thanks for sharing.
