Burlap’ified Bookshelves

Thanks for Sharing!

Hey friends… Hope your weekend has been wonderful!

A few weeks ago I shared with you guys that we had given our Ikea 3 bookshelves… turned into an Entertainment Center… a makeover. (You can read how we created it here.)  Our giant TV croaked just before Christmas and we decided to turn the area into a desk.  We just lower one of the upper shelves to create a little desk nook.

I figured I’d give the whole bookshelf a makeover.  To create the burlap’ified bookshelves I used part of my roll of 12″ burlap fabric from BurlapFabric.com (one of my sponsors).

I just used a staple gun to attach it to the bookshelf backing.

I love the texture it gave the shelves.

Love the pop with the white trim and the light blue walls.

Don’t you LOVE burlap!  I’m thinking about making a burlap skirt for the bottom of the desk too (I want to hide those cords).  I think I need to shop my house and do some final tweaking on the decor and maybe spray paint a few items white… but I’m lovin the results.

Thanks for stopping by & have a wonderful week!

  7. Love it Maryann. Been thinking how I was going to use my burlap fabric – this might just be one way to do that. I have a set of Ikea bookshelves in my guest room that need dressing and this would make them really pop.

  8. The burlap looks awesome in the bookshelves! I also love the idea of adding the burlap skirt. You could create some hidden storage that way too.

Kris I ended up painting that back wall the same color as the rest of the room. I waited till after I put the burlap on and once I saw it I knew I wanted the lighter shade for more contrast. I’ll share all those details at the Power of Paint Party this week.
