DIY Bathroom Storage Bench
Struggling with bathroom organization? This DIY bathroom storage bench is a stylish, beginner-friendly solution to tame clutter while adding a cozy seat to your space. Inspired by Ana White’s free plans, this project uses simple tools like the Kreg Jig (thanks, Rockler!) to create a sturdy, custom piece perfect for any bathroom makeover. Whether you’re stashing towels, toiletries, or cleaning supplies, this bench maximizes small bathroom storage without sacrificing style.

Why You’ll Love This DIY Bathroom Storage Bench
- Saves Space: Hidden storage keeps your bathroom tidy.
- Beginner-Friendly: Easy-to-follow steps with pre-cut lumber.
- Customizable: Stain or paint to match your bathroom decor.
- Moisture-Resistant: Seal it for durability in humid bathrooms.
To help build this bench I received a Kreg Jig from Rockler… love those folks!

Materials and Tools
- Wood boards (cut to size per Ana White’s plans – link to plans).
- Kreg Jig for pocket-hole joinery.
- Wood stain (dark walnut used here) and polyurethane sealant.
- Drill, screws, sandpaper, and a saw (or have lumber cut at the store).
How to Build Your Bathroom Storage Bench
- Cut and Stain: Have boards cut at the hardware store or cut at home if you have the tools. Apply stain and let dry (the longest step!).
- Drill Pocket Holes: Use the Kreg Jig for strong, hidden joints.
- Assemble Frame: Screw pieces together following the plan.
- Add Seat and Storage: Attach the top and optional dividers.
- Seal for Durability: Sand and apply polyurethane for a polished, moisture-proof finish.
I can’t tell you how easy and quick this tool makes building. We used a bench plan from Ana White and had all our pieces cut at our hardware store. My husband stained the boards first. Letting them dry was the most time consuming part of this project.

The Kreg Jig made the bench assembly so quick and easy!

I’ve purchased items throughout the years from Rockler and I’ve worked with them on previous projects too and they’ve always been great to work with.

Thanks for stopping by friends!
The wonderful folks at Rocker supplied me with the Kreg Jig but all opinions and comments are 100% mine.

You are one busy lady with your amazing projects and ideas, Maryann. Thanks for another great one! Pinned 🙂
I’ve been wanting to try my hand at building something too! Your bench turned out so lovely. I love the dark stain and how the crisp, white towels pop against it. So spa-like!
Such a great idea, the bench is gorgeous. Love the beautiful dark stain, stunning!
You make it look so easy! This is a very handsome bench. I can’t believe this was the first building project you tried. My DH and I have been trying to get up the ‘gumption’ to tackle a little building project. Thanks for the inspiration. Just curious; since it was for the bathroom, did you seal it with something special because of the extra moisture in the bathroom?
That looks amazing Maryann! Great work!
Thanks Anne! I’ve got the building bug!
